How to replace the Bluelab Truncheon battery

The Bluelab Truncheon is powered with 3X AA alkaline batteries. To ensure the best life for your Truncheon, don’t use rechargeable batteries, don’t mix brands of batteries or mix old batteries with new.

Tip: If the Truncheon will be stored for any length of time (between growing seasons, for example), consider removing the batteries. Over time, batteries can leak and cause corrosion in the Truncheon – especially battery contacts.  This can be prevented by removing the batteries while it is stored.

To change the batteries, follow the steps below.

1. Remove old batteries

Unfasten the battery cap and tip out old batteries.

2. Check for corrosion

Batteries that have been inside the unit for a long length of time may corrode. If there are signs of corrosion, follow our troubleshooting guide.

3. Fit new batteries

Insert the batteries positive (+) end down into the body.

 4: Refasten the battery cap

There must be no space left between the cap and body to ensure the Truncheon remains 100% waterproof.
