Getting Started: Using your Bluelab OnePen with Edenic

Learn how to get the most of your Bluelab OnePen and the Edenic by Bluelab app.

This guide will guide you through viewing live measurements on your mobile device, saving a measurement to Edenic, syncing measurements from the OnePen and making settings changes to the OnePen via Edenic.

To get started you will need to have the Edenic app downloaded to your mobile device, be logged in and already paired your Bluelab ONE Pen to the app.

To view live measurements, save or sync measurements both your mobile device and OnePen need to be within 10meters of each other.

Viewing Live Measurements

On the Device Index select your Bluelab OnePen. You can easily find your OnePen card by selecting the ONE filter at the top of the screen.

Once selected, Edenic will connect to the OnePen via Bluetooth, and you should see telemetry updating in real-time in the Live Measurement box.

If your OnePen does not connect automatically, make sure Bluetooth is enable on your mobile device and that the OnePen is turned on and close by. Press the refresh button in the disconnected message in the app to try again.

Saving a Measurement

To save a measurement in Edenic follow these steps below:

  1. Turn your OnePen on.
  2. In Edenic select the OnePen device card in the Device Index.
  3. Place your OnePen in the solution you wish to measure.
  4. In Edenic you should see the live measurements coming through. Select the green “O” button to save a measurement.
  5. Enter any details you wish to save with the measurement, e.g relevant tags, notes and/or images/videos. Then select Save. To learn more about Tags click here.
  6. Your measurement has now been saved to your Journal in Edenic.

Syncing Measurements

To sync measurements saved to your OnePen follow these steps below:

  1. Turn your OnePen on and login to Edenic.
  2. In Edenic select the OnePen device card in the Device Index
  3. If there are measurements available to sync a message bubble will be displayed.
    1. Pull down on the screen to refresh if expecting measurement but no message is displayed.
  4. Select the sync icon to enter syncing mode, here you can choose to:
    1. Sync all measurements. Any additional details will be applied to all synced measurements for this session.
    2. Review before syncing. Allows for custom details to be added or deletion of unwanted measurements.
    3. Delete all measurements from the OnePen.
  5. Once synced, measurements are available to view in the Journal.

Note: Once a Measurement has been synced to Edenic it is removed from the OnePen.

Viewing Saved Measurements

To view your measurements in Edenic follow these steps below:

  1. In the Edenic app navigate to Journal. Here you will find all your saved measurements and any journal entries you have created.
  2. To view more details about a measurement, just select it.
  3. A selected measurement can also be edited or deleted.
  4. You can also filter your Journal Entries and Measurements by using the Filter option.

Syncing Calibrations

To sync measurements saved to your OnePen follow these steps below:

  1. Turn you OnePen on and login to Edenic.
  2. In Edenic select the OnePen device card in the Device Index
  3. If there are calibrations available to sync a message bubble will be displayed.
    1. Pull down on the screen to refresh if expecting measurement but no message is displayed.
  4. All synced calibrations are saved to the pH Calibration Log.
  5. The latest calibration is highlighted at the top.

Note: Once a Calibration has been synced to Edenic it is removed from the OnePen.

Changing Settings

Edenic can be used to change the following settings on the Bluelab OnePen:

  • Device Name
  • Auto-off timeout
  • Backlight On Time
  • Brightness
  • Enable/Disable mV readings on OnePen
  • Measurement units

For any changes to be made the pen needs to be turned on and within 10 meters of your mobile device.

To make a settings change follow these steps:

  1. In Edenic select the OnePen device card in the Device Index
  2. Select the Cog icon.
  3. Make desired change.
  4. Select Submit Changes.

Note: Changes are instant as they are sent via Bluetooth.

Firmware Update

Edenic can be used to update the firmware on the Bluelab OnePen.

If a firmware update is available, a message bubble will be displayed on the Live Measurement screen.

To manually check for any updates follow these steps:

  1. In Edenic select the OnePen device card in the Device Index
  2. Select the Cog icon.
  3. Select Firmware Update.
  4. Select check for updates.
    1. The OnePen's current firmware version and available firmware version is also displayed here.
  5. If an update is available, select the Update button, the update will then be downloaded and applied to the OnePen.

IMPORTANT: Do not turn off either device or disconnect while update is in progress.

Note: An internet connection is required to be able to download the update.
